I'm planning a backpacking trip for April 19-22, 2009, with some friends from work. It will be a "strenuous 27-mile loop" in the Sespe Wilderness. We will visit the Sespe Hot Springs, some Chumash Indian rock/cave paintings and an old mining cabin.
This should be a fun trip. Hopefully we will have a pretty good sized group going, but I wouldn't count on everyone showing up when the time comes...as usual.
I've never done this trip before, nor has anyone else in our group. I've already got the maps and plotting our route. Hopefully, I can find my gps, otherwise I'll be buying a new one (either the Garmin eTrex H or the Garmin Foretrex 101) before we leave. This is one area that I would not want to get lost...I don't think it's travelled much and I'll be surprised if we see anyone on the journey. The last time we did the Piru Creek trip we didn't see another soul the entire trip and the time before that we only saw a group of two in the "wilderness portion" of our route.
