This shot was taken in Yosemite National Park. That's Half Dome in the background there on the right.
We rented a cabin at The Redwoods in Yosemite for this trip. This was the first time that Erin or I had ever been to Yosemite. The kids loved it, especially Jacob. We can't wait to go back...we're planning a trip in April to celebrate our anniversary. Yes, I know our anniversary is in May, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper to go in the off-season and we want to take the kids to so April works out better for us.
I took this shot with my Canon 40D and a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM that I rented from Canoga Camera. I would have preferred to have a Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L USM, but Canoga Camera does not have them available for rent and I didn't have the good fortune to own one (hopefully soon I will be able to get one...). I didn't use any filters (I would have liked to try a 1-stop GND or CPL on this image) for this shot because I only have a limited number of 58mm filters (a few ND and a CPL). I increased the saturation and cloned out a sign in the lower right hand corner using Photoshop Elements.
Hopefully I will have the EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM and a few filters (a 1- or 2-stop GND and a CPL will do) when we return in April. I may also bring my film camera and see how I do with that...I'd really like to try some Fuji Velvia and see how I do with film.
Anyhow, have a great weekend everyone!
