Come a little bit closer now...

I could never get as close as I wanted to these little guys....good thing I had the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. I'd like to get ahold of the 1.4x Teleconverter to try with this lens. Anyhow, I'll be winding down my favorites for 2008...I only have one or two more to post here.

I took a lot of photos of dragonflies last year at the pond by my work. I even managed to sell one....my first, and only, photo sold so far. This is my favorite by far...and no, this is not the one I sold. If you want to see the one that I sold, check it out in my Flickr photostream. I really like the lighting and the positioning of the dragonfly, like he's almost weightless sitting there on the reed. The color and tones came out well in this shot. In fact, I did little post processing work on this other than to increase the brightness a bit to bring out some of the wing detail. I can't wait for next summer to go out and get some more dragonfly shots....maybe I'll even rent an EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM or an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM from Canoga Camera.
